Many people may not know how to describe their requirements when choosing a laser ranging device. For this question, there are 3 factors you should consider:

a) Short and middle range for measuring area/volume (generally 0.03~60m)
For this requirement, you can use a handheld laser distance meter, which accuracy is within 3mm. It can be used for outdoor and indoor, widely applied in room measurement, house inspection, engineering construction and other fields
b) Long range measurement(200m~ 1200m), mainly used for outdoor
It’s recommended to choose a laser telescope rangefinder. The laser is invisible and the rangefinder can calculate the range by pointing at the target. It’s an ideal tool for golf, hunting, bird watching and other outdoor sports.
c) High precision, support secondary development (generally 0.03~150m)
A laser distance sensor is suggested. The laser range sensors always use serial port output such as bluetooth, TTL, USB, RS232 etc, convenient to collect data. Also they can be used to save space when integrated into the product. Such laser ranging module is widely used in industrial automation, robotics, construction, and medical industries.
